Changing Settings for eDOCS DM

To access and change settings for eDOCS DM integration,

  1. Click Setup.
  2. Click the Data Source Management tab.
  3. Under Settings, click eDOCS DB.

    Note: Settings are displayed only for data source connections that are set up. If you do not see settings for your type, first add a data source connection. See Adding a Connection for eDOCS DM for details.

  4. Make the changes you want to the settings on that page. Settings are described in the table below.
  5. Click Save.

Security Lump Size

SQL statement group size parameter used when retrieving security attributes for documents. The recommended range is 75-250.

The default value is 100.

Security Cache Groups

If selected, group permissions are checked for users on a per-process basis.

This setting is not selected by default.

Use Client Matter Metadata

If selected, client matter metadata is loaded from the DMS database.

This setting is selected by default.

Use Combined Client Matter

If selected, creates a combined client and matter ID and a combined client and matter name in West km.

This setting is selected by default.

Note: You can set the separator character (e.g., a hyphen “-”) between IDs and names using Client-Matter Separator at the Setup, User Interface, General page.

Use Sub Versions

If selected, sub-versions are used for documents.

Changing this setting requires re-indexing.

This setting is not selected by default.

Use Matter Custom Sql

If selected, the client ID, client name, matter ID, and matter name are retrieved from custom fields instead of the default fields.

This setting is not selected by default.

Matter Custom Sql

A valid SQL query used to retrieve the client ID, client name, matter ID, and matter name from custom fields.

The following aliases must be used:
client_id
client_name
matter_id
matter_name

This setting is ignored if Use Matter Custom sql is not selected.

Use Document Type (Class) Custom Sql

If selected, the document type (class) is retrieved from a custom field instead of the default field.

This setting is not selected by default.

Document Type (Class) Custom Sql

A valid SQL query used to retrieve the document type (class) from a custom field. The custom_class alias must be used.

This setting is ignored if Use Document Type (Class) Custom Sql is not selected.

Custom Fields

Allows you to map a custom field in West km to data in eDOCS DM.

  • In the table, find an empty row that matches the content type of the custom field: String, Boolean, Date/Time, or Integer.
  • Type the name of the field as it is known in eDOCS DM in databaseowner.tablename.fieldname format in the DMS Field text box.
  • If the field is not part of the Profile, People, DocumentTypes, Components, or Versions table in eDOCS DM, specify how the field's table is joined to one of those tables by typing a SQL statement in the JOIN text box.
