Viewing a Document
To view one of your organization's retrieved documents in West km for Litigation, click the document's title.
When you view a document,
- Each citation in the document is a hypertext link to the cited document on WestlawNext and Westlaw Classic. To access the cited document, click the link.
- For each citation that has available KeyCite information, a KeyCite status flag is displayed before the citation. To access additional KeyCite information for the citation, click the flag.
- For each citation that is referenced in other indexed documents at your organization, a km citing references icon
is displayed after the citation. To view the citing documents, click the icon. - If you retrieve a document by running a search, the search terms are highlighted. If you retrieve a document using KeyCite, the references to the cited Westlaw document are highlighted. The first occurrence of the term is automatically displayed.
- Term arrows take you to the next or previous term in your result. ( In a KeyCite result, Term arrows function only within the document you're viewing.)
- Document (Doc) arrows take you to the next or previous document in your search result.
- If comments were added to the document by a colleague with annotator rights, a Note icon
appears in the document header. To view the comments, click the icon. - If a colleague with annotator rights flagged the document as a model example, an Exemplar icon (
or
) appears in the document header.
In the West km interface:
You can perform the following tasks when viewing a document in the West km interface:
- To view details about the document, click View Summary.
- To view the document, click View Document.
- To view comments about a document that were added by a colleague with annotator rights, click View File Comments.
- To open a copy of the document in its original format (e.g., Microsoft Word), click Load Copy.
- To e-mail a copy of the document in its original format (e.g., Microsoft Word), click Email File. An e-mail template is displayed with the document automatically attached.
- To print the document, click Print Document. For more information, see Printing Documents.
- To edit the search of your organization's West km documents, click Edit Search.
- To return to your search result, click Return to Result List.
In the Westlaw Classic interface:
You have access to the following when viewing a document in the Westlaw Classic interface:
Document Links
To access links related to a displayed document, click your organization's Links tab in the left frame.
- To access the complete document text, click Full-Text Document.
- To view details about the document, click Document Summary.
- To access more information about your retrieved documents, click More Information.
- To e-mail a copy of the document in its original format (e.g., Microsoft Word), click Email File. An e-mail template is displayed with the document automatically attached.
ResultsPlus Links
If ResultsPlus is configured for your organization in West km for Litigation, searches for your organization's documents in the Westlaw Classic interface will automatically provide links to additional content that is related to your search. To view the full text of a Westlaw document, click its title in the ResultsPlus list alongside your search result.
