Suspending Indexing

You can temporarily suspend indexing in two ways:

Note: Indexing will be automatically suspended if you reach your maximum storage for HTML document renderings.

Suspend Indexing of All Document Collections

To temporarily suspend indexing of all document collections, on the Manage Collections page, click the Actions list and click Suspend Indexing.

To remove the suspension, click the Actions list and click Unsuspend Indexing.

Suspend One or More Indexing Components

To temporarily suspend one or more indexing components, go to the Indexing Server Setup page. In the Indexing Components table, in the Suspend column, select the check boxes for the components you want to suspend. As long as Suspend is selected, processing for that component is suspended for all document collections during indexing, regardless of what is set for the individual document collections.

If an indexing component is set to process for a collection (e.g., concept searching indexing) and it is dependent on a suspended component (e.g., transactional analysis), then the dependent component (e.g., concept searching indexing) does not process.

If you suspend HTML conversion (upon which all other components are dependent), the following behavior occurs when indexing is attempted on a document collection:

If the cite recognition component is suspended and you can't unsuspend it, your data validation key may be invalid or missing. The data validation key is required for the cite recognition component to communicate with the cite ID (RID) and KeyCite flags servers at West during indexing. Contact your West km representative for a new product key and enter it on the System Configuration page. For details, see Changing System Configuration Settings.
