Adding a Connection for eDOCS DM (Database Connection)
This topic explains how to add a connection to Open Text eDOCS DM (Hummingbird) via a database connection. A database connection is the default connection method for eDOCS DM and must be used if you meet any of these criteria:
- you installed West km 4.7 or later as a new installation, not as an upgrade
- you installed West km on a 64-bit system
- in a previous version of West km, you did not index documents stored in eDOCS DM

To add a connection for eDOCS DM via a database connection,
- Point to the Setup link, and then click Data Source Management.
- At the Data Source Management page, click Add Connection from the Tasks list.
Enter the following information.

- Click Save.

The name of the server where the database for eDOCS DM is located. (The server name must use only alphanumeric characters; underscores are not allowed.) |

Use Windows authentication for database |
If your organization uses a SQL Server database server for your DMS, a database account is used by default to access the DOCS database and the documents are you going to index. If you want to use a Windows account instead, select this option and contact your West km representative for more information. |

Database User ID and Database Password |
The user ID and password for a database user account with access to the database used with your DMS. |
|
Novell ID and Novell Password |
If your organization uses Novell network software, the user ID and password for the Novell server on which documents are stored. |
|
Novell IP |
If your organization uses Novell network software, the Novell NDS Server IP address. |

Use Novell Credentials for Security |
If your organization (1) uses Novell network software, (2) uses either the Full or Always Display Titles document security level in West km, and (3) has user accounts in your DMS mapped to Novell accounts, then select this option. With this option selected, you must also populate the Novell Network ID field for active members in the Professionals table. For details, see Administering West km Members. |
