Managing Data Source Connections

To index documents in West km, you must first add connections to the data sources that contain the document collections you want to index. You add these connections from the Data Source Management page.

To access the Data Source Management page, point to the Setup link, and then click Data Source Management. A list of existing connections is displayed.

You can complete these tasks from the Database Management page:

Your method of adding connections depends on the data source (i.e., a DMS or the NT file system).

Searching for a Connection

To search for a data source connection, choose a server name and a library/database name (if desired) from the drop-down lists at the top of the Data Source Management page and click Search. The connections matching your selections are listed. (To display all data source connections, choose All in both drop-down lists and click Search.)

Editing a Connection

To edit a data source connection, click Edit next to the server and library/database you want to edit on the Data Source Management page. Then edit the values and click Save. If you cannot click in a text box or select a value, that field cannot be edited.

Note: If you change the library group of a data source connection with defined document collections and those collections do not have custom library groups, the change is applied to those document collections during the next indexing of the collection.

Removing a Connection

You can permanently remove data source connections. Note the following:

To permanently remove one or more data source connections, complete these steps:

  1. On the Data Source Management page, select the check box to the left of each connection that you want to remove.
  2. In the Tasks list, click Remove Connection.
  3. At the warning message, click OK.
